March 23 Lenten Reflection

Apologies for the delay, but here's a quick recap of what's been happening lately:

From March 8th to 10th, I attended a women's retreat at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp. It was a conscious decision to unplug for the entirety of the retreat, and it turned out to be incredibly refreshing. During my time there, I immersed myself in yoga, taught myself the basics of Tunisian crochet, and embarked on what was meant to be a simple hike (although we probably should have brought snowshoes in hindsight). Despite the unexpected challenges, it was a rewarding experience. On the final day, just before we said goodbye to camp, a few friends and I stumbled upon three moose. Well, not literally stumbled upon, but we came remarkably close before quickly and quietly retreating. We spent nearly an hour watching them from a safe distance—my first time seeing moose in the wild in Colorado and a pretty epic way to round out our weekend.

Then, last week brought an epic snowstorm to Colorado Springs, effectively shutting down the city to ensure safety on the roads. We received a whopping 16 inches of snow at our house, prompting some lighthearted shenanigans once the sidewalks and cars were cleared.

Despite being snowed in, we were fortunate to have electricity throughout the storm thanks to our underground power lines. I was able to work from home and spend time with our participants, many of whom had their work schedules disrupted. Thankfully, the sun appeared on Friday and Saturday, helping to melt the snow. Although the temperatures remained relatively mild, we considered a snowshoe walk before realizing we didn't have the equipment and couldn't reach anyone who did.

On the Saturday following the snowstorm, I invited friends over to watch the Era’s Tour once again. It was a fantastic way to unwind after a hectic week, filled with music, laughter, and, of course, crafting. I even managed to finish my second crocheted sweater during our sing-along session.
