Home Renovations Part 1

As we transition from our roles as Service Adventure leaders, we're excited to be working towards our next chapter by returning to live with our dear friends in their charming historic farmhouse. The allure of communal living has captivated us, inspiring this move back into shared spaces filled with warmth and history.

However, before we settle in, we've embarked on a renovation project to breathe new life into our upstairs living quarters. My friend Sara has long dreamed of restoring the upstairs area to its original charm, and we're eager to help! Drawing inspiration from both farmhouse aesthetics and our own eclectic tastes, we're crafting a space that seamlessly blends the old with the new.

To kickstart this journey, I’ve curated an inspiration board that serves as a guide, reflecting the cozy allure of farmhouse living intertwined with my own unique vintage flair. Let’s be honest it’s my design, my husband just lives within in.

Before we delve into our original demolition, let's take a moment to appreciate the space in its current state. The living room, hallway, and our bedroom have old and worn carpet and, as we found out, layers of laminate obscuring the original hardwood floors. Meanwhile, the kitchen was clad in outdated pergo flooring and plaster over the brick chimney. With cabinets that have seen better days, the kitchen is ready for a refresh.

Last weekend marked the beginning of our renovation, with our focus honed on the living room and kitchen. Armed with determination and tools, we began the transformation by bidding farewell to the old flooring and cabinets. As the layers peeled away, we caught glimpses of the original hardwood floors!

In the living room and kitchen alike, the energy buzzed with tools and excitement as we worked tirelessly to remove the old, outdated, and worn-out floors and cabinets. With each piece removed, we sensed progress and a lot of work left to do!

As we forge ahead with this, we're realizing a shared dream of communal living within the walls of this home. Stay tuned as we document our journey of transformation, from the humble beginnings of demolition to the triumphant reveal of our revamped living space!
